Who paid for the presidential dinner with the Queen of England?

I am just curious as to whether the money came from his own salary. Thanks in advance. Did President Bush pay for the dinner or did the taxpayers fund the dinner?
Best Answer:
I'd guess its very likely that the cost of all Presidential entertaining of foreign guests comes from the US taxpayer. Remember, he's not "personally" having dinner with her, he's having dinner with her as one head of state entertaining another...so its really more of a business thing.

The country hosted it; thus, your taxes.

I would imagine that the cost came from the coffers of US treasury.

She's not at the White House as his personal guest, but as one head of state being hosted by another. He should not have to pay for it himself. If he has some of his friends over for a private dinner, it's a different matter.
